PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) played a significant role in the event by actively participating and contributing to the vibrant, sports-driven atmosphere that the marathon embodies.

Event Overview

The Sorsogon leg of the MILO National Marathon became the biggest marathon run ever held in the province. Despite rainy weather and wet roads, participants—numbering over 10,000—demonstrated true sportsmanship, resilience, and community spirit, making history as part of this inaugural Sorsogon race. Runners of all levels, from casual athletes to serious marathoners, joined early-morning starting assemblies and experienced the thrill of a nationwide running movement that encourages health, discipline, and determination.

PRISAA's Participation

PRISAA, known for its commitment to fostering excellence among student-athletes and supporting grassroots sports, joined the MILO Marathon Sorsogon Leg with enthusiasm and teamwork. The association organized contingents of student-athletes from member schools across the region, enabling young runners to:

  • Test their limits
  • Gain experience in a professionally organized sporting event
  • Interact with runners from various backgrounds

PRISAA’s participation aligned with their mission to promote sports and values education among the youth, amplify the experience of athletic achievement, and build camaraderie through competition.

Impact on the Community

The marathon highlighted the unity and vibrance of Sorsogon’s local sports community, with support from government officials, local schools, and athletic organizations. PRISAA’s involvement strengthened collaboration between private educational institutions and sporting initiatives, ensuring that sports development extends to students and educators alike.

The event inspired both participants and spectators, showing that sportsmanship, resilience, and dreams are celebrated not only at the finish line but throughout the whole journey of training and competition.
