DAET, CAMARINES NORTE — The CCDI Wildcats showcased undeniable resilience and competitive excellence, securing multiple podium finishes in the highly contested basketball events of the Regional PRISAA Games 2026, held from March 18–21.

Despite falling just short of a championship berth to represent the region, CCDI delivered a commendable performance across both the 3x3 and 5x5 categories, reaffirming its status as a formidable collegiate basketball contender in Bicol.

🥉 The 3x3 Basketball Showdown

The fast-paced 3x3 courts saw intense matchups, with CCDI battling fiercely in multiple divisions:

  • Men’s Division: Entering as defending champions, the Wildcats fought hard but settled for the Silver Medal, with the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) reclaiming the title. UST-Legazpi earned the Bronze.
  • Boys’ Division: CCDI secured the Bronze Medal. UNC dominated to capture the championship, while the emerging Dominican School of Camalig impressed with a Silver finish.
  • Women’s Division (Historic Milestone): The Wildcats achieved their first-ever Silver Medal finish! The division was won by UST-Legazpi, with Camarines Norte claiming Bronze.
  • (Note: In the 3x3 Girls’ Division, the VGI Raging Bulls captured Gold, UNEP took Silver, and Mabini Colleges secured Bronze.)

🏅 Traditional 5x5 Battles

In the traditional 5x5 Basketball event, CCDI concluded its campaign with a hard-fought Bronze Medal, sharing the spotlight in a fiercely competitive bracket that saw strong performances from Amando Cope College of Albay and Naga College Foundation.

The 5x5 courts also witnessed a historic breakthrough from the Dominican School of Camalig, which clinched Gold by dethroning former champions Villanueva Gabao Institute (VGI, Silver), while UNC took home Bronze in their respective category.

A Legacy of Sustained Excellence

Although the Wildcats narrowly missed reclaiming the top podium in several categories this year, their consistent medal finishes underscore CCDI’s sustained excellence in PRISAA basketball.

The Wildcats remain a cornerstone of regional athletics—proving once again that they are the program to beat in future competitions.
